Living the Sacred Adventure

“Keep seeking it like a man would seek for sterling silver, searching in hidden places for cherished treasure, then you will discover the fear of the Lord and find the true knowledge of God.” Proverbs 2:4-5 (TPT)

Living the Sacred Adventure

I love mountain-top experiences. Thrilling events make my heart happy, and because Jesus is so personal and so kind, He’s blessed me with a handful of electric experiences in my life. Uniquely beautiful miracles that left no mistake of His presence or an answered prayer.

But most of the time? He speaks to me in glittering fingerprints and treasure hunts.

My divine hunts began with spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Without fail, in my lowest lows when I felt scared, lost, or alone, or in the highest highs of celebration and joy, when I remembered to look up, God was there. Revealing His presence, love, and guidance in technicolor.

This is what I call Glimpses of Heaven...and this photo was taken in Patmos, where the Apostle John wrote the Book of Revelation

Matthew 28:20 records Jesus instructing us to “never forget that I am with you every day,” and Proverbs 3:6 promises that when we live with that awareness, becoming “intimate with Him in whatever we do,” He leads us wherever we go.

God’s signs of guidance now include a painted rock along my path, an unexplained ladybug in the bathtub, and in a verse of Scripture so personalized, so specific to my season, it seems to shimmer on the page like cherished treasure.

Glittering fingerprints.

“Keep seeking [my wisdom] like a man would seek for sterling silver, searching in hidden places for cherished treasure, then you will discover the fear of the Lord and find the true knowledge of God” (Proverbs 2:4-5).

Proverbs is a treasure-trove of Scriptural goodness, and this gem is an example of such an illuminated verse. I discovered it shortly after sharing with a friend how Jesus was meeting me daily—not on mountaintops, but on walks, doing housework, and even in Houston traffic.

When I discover a glittering fingerprint, a thrill dances across my skin. I believe God woos us in personal ways and He uses my playfulness and love for adventure to bring me into closer intimacy. Now attuned to His signs, I’ve realized whenever I feel a nudge or find a special treasure, it’s accompanied by a chance to live out my purpose, lean into wonder, or reawaken to a greater awareness of His loving presence.

In a world of piled-up dishes, endless laundry, and unavoidable traffic, my daily choice to actively seek God’s glittering fingerprints turns the ordinary into extraordinary. Everyday life becomes a divine treasure hunt, a sacred adventure that restarts every morning, bringing with it fresh chances for whimsy, awe, gratitude, and guidance.

Slowing down to look for the divine and sense the holy in the mundane strengthens my faith.

I don’t need mountaintops because God meets me where I am. His glittering fingerprints are in sunsets and giggles, woodland creatures and graceful oaks. Scripture verses, song lyrics, and in the soft whisper in my heart, reminding me of His never-ending love.
